About Peak Ecology
Peak Ecology Limited was started in 2006 and is run by director’s Jonathan Brickland, Jessica Eades and Clare Simmonds. Prior to setting up Peak Ecology Jonathan worked as National Ecologist with British Waterways (now The Canal & River Trust) and has also worked for the Environment Agency and Pond Conservation.
“Our Mission is to provide clear, high quality and affordable advice to public and private sector clients throughout Britain”.
“Our Vision is for Peak Ecology to be a leading UK provider of pragmatic, business-focused ecological advice and services to the forestry, quarrying, renewable energy and development sectors”.
We have a team of professional ecologists working out of our office in Bakewell, although this expands significantly with short-term contract staff over the spring and summer months.
Our clients include wind farm developers, energy companies, forestry companies, quarries and aggregates companies, property developers and their agents, planning consultants, architects and landscape architects, engineering and multi-disciplinary consultants, local authorities, government agencies, National Park Authorities, public bodies and NGOs.
Our survey capabilities include Extended Habitat Surveys, NVC and detailed botanical assessments, and a wide range of surveys for animal species and groups, including birds, bats, reptiles and amphibians, mammals and others. Additionally, we have notable expertise in Geographical Information Systems, Collision Risk Assessment modelling, BREEAM assessment and Ecological Impact Assessment.
Why use Peak Ecology?
We are small enough to provide a friendly, hands-on service to our clients at a competitive price, but we also have a strong track record of delivery on larger projects too. We offer specialist advice and services, and our experience includes working on some of the largest development projects in the UK.
Delivering quality work safely to the highest professional standards is of the utmost importance to Peak Ecology. We have the ISO: 9001 quality assurance accreditation and are approved under the Achilles UVDB verify scheme for Health & Safety, Quality and Environment. All our staff are members or are working towards membership of our professional institute, the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management. At all times, all Peak Ecology staff operate under the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management’s professional code of conduct, which is available to download here: CIEEM Code of Conduct
Above all, we value common sense. We pride ourselves on our helpful, knowledgeable staff, who take a pragmatic and client-oriented approach, give sound ecological advice, deliver clear and focused reports and try very hard to give cost effective ecological solutions.
