Ecology for Planning | Condition Discharge

In order to support a planning application or to discharge a planning condition, a Construction and Environment Management Plan (CEMP) or a Landscape and Ecological Management Plan (LEMP) may be required for submission, prior to the commencement of any development works on a site.

A CEMP is produced to set out the responsibilities of the developer to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and to implement any environmental mitigation measures on a site during the pre-construction and construction phase of the development. A CEMP outlines measures to avoid, minimise and mitigate against any construction effects on the environment and any local ecologically sensitive receptors, with some measures incorporated into method statements. A CEMP provides specific management measures for a site in a dynamic document which is reviewed throughout, and new information added as appropriate.

A LEMP is produced to set out working methodologies and mitigation measures to ensure the protection of existing ecologically valuable habitats and protected or notable species that may occur on site, or in immediately surrounding habitat. A LEMP outlines how ecological enhancements will be managed to increase the landscape and ecological value of the site and provide a management and monitoring plan in order to outline the maintenance and enhancement of the site.
